This morning (October 4), Hanoi held a groundbreaking ceremony for the underpass construction investment project at Co Linh intersection (Long Bien ward). This is one of the works and projects in the city that started construction on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025).
The project has a total investment of 748 billion VND from the Hanoi city budget, built in the direction of Vinh Tuy to Dam Quang Trung Street. The scale of the tunnel cross-section is enough for 6 lanes, each side has 3 lanes.
After completion, the Co Linh intersection - Vinh Tuy bridge approach road will have 3 levels of road, including: overpass, road at the existing intersection and underpass.
On October 9, the city will organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tran Hung Dao Bridge Construction Investment Project.
The project is located in the wards of Hong Ha, Cua Nam, Hai Ba Trung, Bo De, Long Bien.
The starting point is at the intersection between Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong - Le Thanh Tong - Tang Bat Ho - Han Thuyen streets, in Cua Nam ward, Hai Ba Trung. The end point is at the intersection with Nguyen Son Street, Bo De Ward.
The project has a total investment of VND 7,549 billion from the Hanoi city budget, the total length of the route is 4.181 km. Of which, the bridge length is 870 m, the cross-section is 43 m wide (ensuring 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for bicycles and 2 lanes for pedestrians).
The approach bridges on both sides of Hong Ha and Long Bien bridges have a total length of about 1.213 km, the structure of the prestressed reinforced concrete box girder, the width is 26 - 41.5 m and the design speed is 80 km/h.
The project has 2 intersections, including: Huu Hong dike intersection (Nguyen Khoi - Tran Khanh Du) and Ta Hong dike intersection (Long Bien - Xuan Quan road).
The Tran Hung Dao Bridge construction investment project is expected to be basically completed in 2027, with the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
A day later (October 10), the investment project to build Thuong Cat bridge and the road at both ends of the bridge across the Red River will start construction.
The total length of the bridge and roads at both ends of the bridge is 5.226 km, of which the main bridge is 780 m; the approach bridge is 3.125 km long; the roads at both ends of the bridge are 1.321 km long; the total investment is 7,303 billion VND, using the city budget.
Thuong Cat Bridge is designed with 8 lanes (6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 rudimentary lanes), the width of the main bridge is 35 m, the approach bridge is 31 m; the southern approach road has a typical cross-section of 60 m (6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 rudimentary lanes on the main route and 2 parallel roads). The North approach road has a typical cross-section of 50 m (4 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 parallel roads).
According to the plan approved by the Hanoi People's Committee, the starting point of the project is located at the intersection with Ky Vu Street, Thuong Cat Ward (old Bac Tu Liem District) - now Thuong Cat Ward. The end point is at the intersection with Road 23B, in Dai Mach commune, Dong Anh district (old) - now Thien Loc commune.
In addition to the underpass and bridge projects across the Red River, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, Hanoi will also start construction of urban railway line No. 2, Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section.
This metro line is 11.5 km long, of which 2.6 km is elevated and 8.9 km is underground; the means of transport includes 10 trains, each with 4 cars.
The project has a total investment of VND 35,588 billion, of which counterpart capital is VND 5,916 billion, ODA loan capital (JICA) is VND 29,672 billion; the target is to be completed by 2030.
Some other projects such as the Ngoc Trai Theater Construction Investment Project and thematic Cultural and Art Park, the Compensation, Support, Resettlement, and Site Clearance Project under the Hoan Kiem Lake Construction Investment Project - Park East will also start construction on this occasion.
