In order to improve service quality and create more convenience for people, especially the elderly, the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center (Tramoc) will issue free chip-based electronic physical cards for passengers eligible for free policies when using subsidized buses in the city.
According to Tramoc's announcement, in addition to using electronic cards (non-physical cards) on smartphones or integrated on citizen identification cards, people will have an additional option to use chip-based physical cards to take free buses.
The receipt of registration dossiers is carried out entirely online, starting from July 6, 2026 on the website vedientuonline. com. vn.
The registration dossier includes a photo of both sides of the citizen identification card and a portrait of the card user.
According to the plan, the first card return is expected to take place from July 26 to July 31, 2026. For valid applications submitted later, the card return time is expected to be 5-10 days from the date Tramoc receives them.
People can choose one of two forms of card receipt, including receiving directly at the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center (No. 1 Kim Ma, Giang Vo ward, Hanoi) during office hours or receiving via express delivery service at the registered address, with transportation costs collected by the delivery unit according to regulations.
Tramoc also noted that the old free card model (without chip) is still valid until December 31, 2026, so people do not need to change the card immediately if they are still using the old card.
According to Tramoc, the deployment of free chip-based electronic physical cards aims to diversify usage forms, creating more convenience for people in the process of using subsidized public passenger transport services by bus in Hanoi City.
