Hanoi City has just approved the location plan for National Highway 1A section from Kim Lien tunnel to Gie bridge intersection with a scale of 10 main lanes, cross-section 90m wide.
On May 18, the Department of Planning and Architecture in coordination with the Hanoi Institute of Construction Planning organized a conference to hand over the dossier of the location plan for National Highway 1A, scale 1/500.
According to Decision No. 1878/QD-UBND dated April 13, 2026 of the Hanoi People's Committee, National Highway 1A is about 36.3km long. The starting point is at Ring Road 1 intersection in Kim Lien tunnel area, the ending point is at Cau Gie intersection in Dai Xuyen commune. Most of the route follows existing National Highway 1A.
The route passes through 18 wards and communes including Kim Lien, Bach Mai, Phuong Liet, Tuong Mai, Dinh Cong, Hoang Mai, Hoang Liet, Yen So, Dai Thanh, Thanh Tri, Ngoc Hoi, Thuong Tin, Hong Van, Thuong Phuc, Chuong Duong, Phu Xuyen, Chuyen My and Dai Xuyen.
The section passing through Phu Xuyen station area will be studied and adjusted to take advantage of the land fund after renovating the national railway line.
According to the plan, the route is identified as the main urban road with a cross-section of 90m wide, including the main road with 10 lanes, service roads on both sides with 3 lanes each, along with a median strip and sidewalk system.
Along the route, 11 main traffic intersections are arranged with major routes such as Ring Road 1, Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3, Ring Road 3.5, Ring Road 4 and Cau Gie intersection.
In the process of preparing feasibility study reports, units will continue to review red line boundaries, intersection plans and related technical items to ensure synchronization with traffic planning and urban planning.
Hanoi City People's Committee assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture to preside over the inspection and confirmation of the route plan dossier, and at the same time coordinate with units to study and control the spatial planning on both sides of the route.
The Department of Construction is assigned to update the scale and nature of the route into the capital's transport planning adjustment dossier; coordinate in researching plans to organize intersections and renovate the national railway and urban railway along the route.
