According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, after more than 2 years of construction, some items of the Duong River Waterway Upgrade Project, with an investment capital of nearly VND1,850 billion (including a railway bridge and a road bridge) have been revealed.
Mr. Mai Xuan Tan - Director of the Duong River Waterway Transport Upgrade Project (Relance Project Management Board, Ministry of Construction) said that the road bridge is currently stuck with the entire road surface on both sides of the bridgehead in Viet Hung ward and Phu Dong commune, so construction is only taking place under the river.
"The contractor is implementing the T3 and T4 tower items under the river and waiting for the site to construct on the shore" - Mr. Tan said.

For the railway bridge, the construction unit has completed the installation of 2 main girders and temporarily suspended construction from May to the end of October to ensure regulations on the Law on Dikes during the rainy and stormy season. Therefore, the bypass beams will be implemented from November.
According to Mr. Tan, the progress of the railway bridge depends on the road bridge. When the road bridge is opened, the railway bridge will be dismantled and moved to the new bridge.

The Duong River waterway upgrade project has a total land use area of about 4.96 hectares involving more than 140 households in Viet Hung ward and Phu Dong commune. Construction started in July 2023, but to date, the investor has only received only 8% of the site from the locality.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuyet - Vice Chairman of Phu Dong Commune People's Committee said that he had assigned the Commune Infrastructure - Investment Project Management Board (PMU) to develop a site clearance plan.
Up to now, the locality has completed the investigation, measurement, and inventory of 92 households; of which, 47 plans have been listed and established.
For the remaining, the Project Management Board is asking for data on population, household registration from the police agency and land origin of the Department of Economics - Infrastructure and Urban Areas to draft a compensation, support and resettlement plan.
For the 72 households assigned to resettlement, the People's Committee of Phu Dong commune worked with the People's Committee of Thuan An commune to agree on resettlement locations. It is expected that in October, the commune will approve about 40 - 50% of households assigned to resettlement.
"Regarding policies and regimes, we always ensure the rights of people according to legal regulations, provide maximum support so that households whose land is recovered can receive a satisfactory compensation and have better living conditions in their new homes" - Mr. Thuyet emphasized.

The leader of Phu Dong Commune People's Committee said that Gia Lam District (old) had previously proposed that the city assign resettlement to the old Yen Vien commune. However, the public investment plan to build this resettlement area will be implemented in the period of 2026 - 2028, which leads to delays in the site clearance of the Duong River waterway upgrade project.
Recently, the city has resolved the problem when approving the transfer of Yen Vien resettlement area to the resettlement area in Thuan An commune (old Kim Son commune). Up to now, the site for resettlement allocation has been guaranteed.
"According to the plan, in October, the commune will hand over at least 60% of the site and will hand over the remaining site by the end of 2025 for the investor to implement the project" - Mr. Nguyen Van Thuyet shared.

According to Mr. Mai Xuan Tan - Director of the Duong River Water Transport Upgrade Project, the locality's delay in handing over the site for about 8 months prevented the project from reaching the finish line in 2025 as originally planned.
With the plan to hand over the site in the fourth quarter of 2025, the project will be delayed until next year. Currently, the Railway Project Management Board is preparing a report to the Ministry of Construction to adjust the project progress to December 2026.
