On September 24, a murder case occurred in the Yishun apartment complex in northern Singapore, causing a stir in public opinion when the victim was a Vietnamese woman (32 years old) stabbed to death after a noisy conflict with her neighbor.
According to Singapore police, the incident occurred at around 7.25 am (local time), when two households had a fierce argument. During the conflict, the 66-year-old man grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim many times. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman unconscious with many wounds. She was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital but did not survive.
In addition to the victim, her husband was also injured while trying to intervene. The suspect was later arrested at the scene and is being investigated for murder - a crime that could face the death penalty in Singapore.
According to neighbors, the conflict between the two families has existed for many years, mainly revolving around the noise from the apartment up front. The case was submitted to the Community Dispute Resolution Court but not completely resolved. Some witnesses recounted that morning, they heard screams, furniture collided strongly, then saw police and an ambulance pulling in.
A witness said: "We heard screams, then saw a woman lying on the floor, bleeding profusely".
The Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore has confirmed the victim's identity and is coordinating with local authorities to support the family and support the return of the victim's body.
Singapore is famous for having one of the countries with the lowest crime rate in the world. The case at Yishun apartment building has therefore caused a social shock and has been closely monitored by local media. The authorities emphasized that this is a strong warning about resolving conflicts in the community.
Singapore police affirmed that they will continue to collect evidence and take witness statements to bring the case to trial as soon as possible.
