With the consent of the Hanoi People's Committee, the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with relevant agencies organizes the New Year 2026 Art Program, which includes the Hanoi Countdown 2026 Program and New Year's fireworks display points, taking place from the evening of December 31, 2025 to the early morning of January 1, 2026.
To ensure security, order, and traffic safety to serve the activities to welcome the New Year 2026, Hanoi City Police organize traffic diversion and restrictions on vehicles as follows:
From 1:00 PM on December 31, organize a traffic ban on vehicles in the pedestrian street area around Hoan Kiem Lake; and at the same time ban passenger cars and trucks from entering Ngo Quyen, Hai Ba Trung, Ly Thuong Kiet, Hang Trong, Nha Chung, Hang Gai, Hang Hom and Ly Thai To streets.
From 6:00 PM on December 31, 2025 to dawn on January 1, 2026, cars are prohibited from entering Hai Ba Trung and Hang Bai streets; all vehicles are prohibited from circulating on Hang Trong, Hang Hom, Hang Gai and Ly Thai To streets; vehicles from Nguyen Huu Huan street are prohibited from entering the Old Quarter area.
Functional forces organize traffic diversion and remote traffic guidance at the Ly Thuong Kiet - Ba Trieu, Ly Thuong Kiet - Hang Bai, Ly Thuong Kiet - Quang Trung intersections and adjacent routes to ensure safe and smooth traffic.
It is requested that agencies, organizations and traffic participants strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, and comply with the guidance and regulation of functional forces. When encountering convoys of priority vehicles, military vehicles, and specialized vehicles of the Police and Army forces on duty, vehicles must give way, go close to the right side of the road and stop completely for the convoy of priority vehicles to pass.
During the 2026 New Year holiday, Hanoi will arrange 5 areas with a total of 6 high-altitude fireworks display sites combining low altitude and fireworks.
Fireworks display time is 15 minutes, from 11:45 PM on December 31, 2025 to 0:00 AM on January 1, 2026.
Fireworks display locations include: Two battlefields in Hoan Kiem ward (in front of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper office and in front of Hanoi Post Office); Thong Nhat Park coconut island (Hai Ba Trung ward); F1 race track (Tu Liem ward); Lac Long Quan flower garden (Tay Ho ward) and Van Quan lake (Ha Dong ward).
In the two battlefields at Hoan Kiem Lake alone, each battlefield has 700 high-altitude fireworks; low-altitude fireworks each battlefield has 60 platforms and many fireworks platforms.
Especially this year, for the first time, people in the Capital can admire fireworks fired from 3 locations located in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake.
