On October 24, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Notice No. 1265 of the City People's Committee on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.
Implement Notice No. 9441 of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations of Hanoi city (abbreviated as civil servants and public employees) to have Lunar New Year holidays in 2026 as follows:
5 days off as prescribed, including 1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet from Monday, February 16, 2026 (ie December 29, At Ty year) to Friday, February 20, 2026 (ie January 4, Binh Ngo year).
Civil servants and public employees will have 2 days off for the National Day holiday in 2026 as follows: 2 days off according to regulations including September 2, 2026 and 1 day before September 1, 2026;
Exchange from the working day of Monday, August 31, 2026 to the weekly Saturday, August 22, 2026 (Monday, August 31, 2026 and make up for it on Saturday, August 22, 2026).
Agencies and units implementing the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 will arrange and assign on-duty departments according to regulations and work reasonably to solve continuous work, ensuring good service to the organization and people.
In particular, it is noted to send staff and civil servants on duty to handle unexpected and unforeseeable work that may occur during the holidays and Tet according to regulations.
Departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of wards and communes have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement measures to develop production, business, economic and social activities, ensure supply and demand of goods, services, stabilize prices and markets, contribute to promoting economic growth, practice thrift, and combat waste in the time before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2026.
Agencies and units that do not implement a fixed schedule for Saturday and Sunday every week will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable holiday schedule, in accordance with the provisions of law.
For employees not specified in Clause 1 of this notice, employers decide to choose the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday options in 2026 as follows: For the Lunar New Year, choose 1 day off at the end of the year of the Snake and 4 days at the beginning of the year of the Snake or 2 days off at the end of the year of the Snake and 3 days at the beginning of the year of the Snake or 3 days at the end of the year of the Snake and 2 days at the beginning of the year of the Snake.
On National Day, take a day off on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 and choose a day off for 2 days: Tuesday, September 1, 2026 or Thursday, September 3, 2026.
Employers notify employees of the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 at least 30 days before implementation. If the weekly day off coincides with the holiday or Tet holiday prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, employees are entitled to compensatory weekly day off on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
The city encourages employers to apply the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 for employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees; encourage more beneficial agreements for employees. Other holidays and Tet holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code.
