The Government Office has just issued Document No. 9859/VPCP-KGVX dated October 13, 2025, conveying the opinion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2026.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (in document 8764/BNV-CVL dated October 1, 2025) on the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2026.
The Minister of Home Affairs informs administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and employees according to regulations.
Agencies and units arrange and assign on-duty departments according to regulations and work reasonably to solve continuous work, ensuring service to the people.
Ministries, agencies and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement measures to develop production, business, economic and social activities, ensure supply and demand of goods and services, stabilize prices and markets, contribute to promoting economic growth, practice thrift, and combat waste in the time before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2026.
Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued document No. 8764/BNV-CVL dated October 1, 2025 to the Prime Minister proposing a plan for Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.
According to the proposed plan of the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil servants and public employees will have a Lunar New Year holiday from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (ie December 27, At Ty year) to Sunday, February 22, 2026 (ie January 6, Binh Ngo year).
Thus, the Binh Ngo Tet holiday lasts 9 consecutive days, including 5 days off for Tet according to the provisions of the Labor Code and 4 days off for weekends.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also proposed that on the occasion of the National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have a holiday on September 2, 2026 and 1 day before that on September 1, 2026; switching from working day on Monday (August 31, 2026) to weekly Saturday (August 22, 2026). Civil servants and public employees will have a National Day holiday in 2026 from Saturday, August 29, 2026 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Thus, on the occasion of the National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have 5 days off (including 2 days off for National Day according to regulations, 2 days off per week and 1 day off in exchange for a weekly day off).
