Hanoi pioneers in green transformation

Hương Giang |

Hanoi is showing strong determination to become a leading locality in green transformation when opening an additional bus route 34 using 17 VinFast electric buses. This is the 5th bus route in Hanoi to convert from diesel to electric vehicles in just the first 4 months of 2025, which has been warmly welcomed by the people of the capital.

People are excited to choose public transport

"For more than 10 years now, I have chosen to travel by bus to work, from home to work about 12 kilometers apart. Taking a gasoline bus for many years, I feel clearly the pollution due to car emissions whenever the car runs, even many black smoke sprayed out, spraying on the face of people in traffic. Just on the bus, I get sick by the car sickness on the car, I have been relaxed, I have been relaxed, I have been relaxed, I have been relaxed, I have been relaxed, I have a relaxed bus, I have been relaxed every day, I have a comfortable bus, I have been relaxed every day I am very lucky.

Studies show that electric buses help reduce carbon and methane emissions into the environment, contributing to reducing air pollution, a problem in Hanoi.

According to information from the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center, using electric buses significantly reduces CO2 emissions into the environment. Calculations from the "Project to develop a public transport system using electricity and green energy in the city" show that the amount of CO2 emitted is reduced by about 170,480 tons of CO2/year when using electric buses instead of using diesel buses as at present.

In addition, the fuel cost for clean energy buses is lower than for diesel vehicles. Electric buses not only consume less energy than buses using internal combustion engines, helping to reduce life cycle costs but also giving higher efficiency. Electric buses have high reliability and long life, and very low maintenance costs compared to engines and diesel transmissions.

In addition, with its smooth operation, electric buses significantly reduce noise compared to traditional diesel buses, bringing a more comfortable travel experience to passengers.

Recently, Hanoi has launched the No. 34 electric bus route, using 17 VinFast cars. This is considered a concrete step to realize the goal of green transformation of the public transport system in the capital. This decision received active support from Hanoians who have had a good experience with Vin buses.

On a national scale, Hanoi is a pioneer locality, taking the lead in green transformation of public transport by continuously launching new electric bus routes since the beginning of the year, a model for other localities to learn from. This is one of the concrete steps to realize the green transformation goal in the urban transport sector of the capital.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hong - Director of Hanoi Electric Vehicle Joint Stock Company - said: In order to meet the requirements of the roadmap for converting public transport to clean energy, the company has proactively implemented investment, prepared infrastructure and vehicles, ensuring full technical conditions to put 17 electric buses into operation on route 34.

The operation of this electric bus route not only improves the quality of public passenger transport services but also contributes to the realization of sustainable urban development goals, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the environment, Mr. Hong emphasized.

Contributing to solving the problem of environmental pollution and traffic congestion in the capital

Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen - Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee - affirmed the pioneering role of enterprises in converting urban transport vehicles towards sustainable development.

Mr. Quyen requested Hanoi Electric Co., Ltd. to continue speeding up the conversion, striving to basically convert bus vehicles by 2030 by the company managed and operated into green energy by the company; Promote the implementation of solutions to improve service quality, pay special attention to bus routes using green energy, build friendly bus images to attract more people to use public transport, contributing to solving environmental pollution and traffic congestion of the Capital.

The Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also requested departments, branches and sectors to urgently complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in the process of investing and converting vehicles while promoting investment in building technical infrastructure systems and synchronous charging stations to serve the operation of vehicles using clean energy.

In addition, the development and promulgation of a unit price framework and norms for small and medium-sized electric buses needs to be accelerated, as a legal and financial basis for expanding the scale of investment in green energy vehicles in the coming time - Mr. Quyen emphasized.
