The above information was given by the leader of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited. The proactive release of 7 reservoirs is to proactively respond to the forecast of heavy rain caused by the tropical depression about to strengthen into a storm (storm No. 5).
The spillway discharge time starts from 9:00 a.m. on August 24, with a discharge flow of 5 - 120 m3/s. The end time is based on the weather and lake water level.
The proactive release of reservoirs is to control water levels, reduce pressure on works, minimize the risk of flooding in downstream areas when heavy rain occurs, and protect people's property and lives, informed Director of Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Tran Manh Cuong.
Along with proactively releasing large reservoirs, the water level of some reservoirs with small capacity such as Da Cat, Khe Lau, Khe Nai, Dam Mung... with free overflow is now almost equal to the overflow threshold. In case of rain, the water level of these lakes will increase and flow freely with an expected flow of 1 - 90 m3/s.
According to weather forecasts, the tropical depression that is about to strengthen into storm No. 5 will directly affect the provinces from Nghe An to Hue.
Currently, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has also issued a telegram directing the prevention of tropical depressions that are about to strengthen into storms, in order to reduce damage in the area.
