On the afternoon of May 20, the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Quang Tri province organized biological sample taking for 28 martyrs' remains repatriated in Laos in the dry season 2025 - 2026 to serve the work of identifying and burial at Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery.
The activity is part of the "500-day and night campaign to promote the search, gathering and identification of martyrs' remains". Attending and directing the sampling session were Mr. Le Van Bao - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for searching, gathering and identifying martyrs' remains of the province; Colonel Truong Nhu Y - Deputy Political Commissar of Quang Tri Provincial Military Command and representatives of Military Region 4, Provincial Department of Home Affairs and related forces.
According to the Organizing Committee, 28 sets of remains of martyrs who were volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who sacrificed in Laos during the wars, were searched, exhumed, and repatriated by Team 584 and Team 589 in the two provinces of Savannakhet and Khammouane in the 2025-2026 dry season.
Before taking samples, forces are thoroughly grasped the plan, disseminated methods and implementation procedures. The entire biological sample taking process is carried out strictly in accordance with regulations to ensure accuracy and avoid errors and confusions.
At the working session, the Steering Committee and representatives of the Policy Department and the Political Department of Military Region 4 directly monitored and inspected the task deployment process, and at the same time requested specialized departments to continue technical reviews to ensure absolute safety during the implementation process.
After completing the sampling, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command signed a record of handing over 28 sets of martyrs' remains to the Provincial Department of Home Affairs to serve the work of identifying identities and organizing burials according to regulations.
