On the morning of July 2nd, at Cam Tuyen Martyrs' Cemetery, Hieu Giang commune (Quang Tri province), in coordination with relevant units, a memorial service and burial ceremony for 1 set of remains of a martyr found in the Chom Chom hill area, Ban Chua village, was held.
Previously, on May 28, the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of Division 968 (Military Region 4) searched and exhumed the martyrs' remains mentioned above in the Chom Chom hill area of Ban Chua village, Hieu Giang commune.
The remains were found at a depth of about 1.5m, the bones had decomposed and there were 15 remaining teeth. The artifacts found included: 1 mortar used to bury the remains, 1 belt, 1 comb and 13 buttons of the army shirt.
According to initial information, the location where the remains were found was once the surgical station and cemetery of Regiment 64, Division 320. Functional agencies determined that the martyr may belong to Regiment 64, Division 320, and died around 1968.
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates, officials, armed forces and local people respectfully offered incense and flowers, expressing deep gratitude for the sacrifices of heroic martyrs for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
After the memorial service, the delegates performed the burial ceremony of martyrs' remains at Cam Tuyen Martyrs' Cemetery in accordance with customs and regulations.
