In the afternoon of April 11, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ngo Quang Khai - Chairman of Trang Dinh Commune People's Committee, Lang Son province - confirmed that 2 tragic drowning incidents had just occurred in the area.
According to initial information, the incidents killed 2 students residing in Khang Chien commune. In addition, there is still another student residing in Trang Dinh commune who is currently missing, functional forces are urgently searching.
It is known that the children had an accident when they invited each other to swim in the river area in Trang Dinh commune.
Immediately after receiving the news, the authorities of Trang Dinh and Khang Chien communes mobilized police and military forces to coordinate with the people to organize search and rescue along the river.
Recorded by the end of the afternoon of the same day, the bodies of 2 students in Khang Chien commune were found and handed over to their families for funeral arrangements. Local authorities also visited, encouraged, and supported the victims' families.
Currently, the search for the remaining students is still being urgently deployed.
The incident continues to sound an alarm about the risk of drowning in children when the weather enters the hot season, children often invite each other to bathe in rivers and streams without adult supervision.
