Lang Son sets a goal to become a "drug-free" province by 2030, with a roadmap to gradually increase the proportion of communes and wards meeting the criteria year by year, according to the plan announced at the conference on April 10.
The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee.
Speaking at the opening, Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan said that in the past time, the Central Government has issued many guidelines and policies on drug prevention and control, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and the whole society.
On that basis, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Lang Son province have concretized into key plans and tasks, focusing on building a "drug-free" area.

According to the Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, the goal of building "A Drug-Free Province" is a difficult task, but it can be achieved if there is high political determination, the synchronous involvement of all levels and sectors, and the consensus of the people.
He requested delegates to focus on discussing and clarifying the issues raised, and propose feasible solutions to implement immediately after the conference.
At the conference, delegates presented papers, shared experiences and proposed solutions to control and push back drug evils.
The content focuses on the role of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in coordinating with functional forces to review, detect, and manage addicts and illegal drug users; medical solutions in drug prevention and control; improving the effectiveness of propaganda in schools; transforming key and complex areas of drugs at the grassroots level.

According to the announcement, Lang Son province has 4 key routes with complex drug problems in the province; 50 key communes and wards with complex drug problems, including 13 type II areas and 37 type III areas; 15 communes and wards are identified as "no drug" areas.
Also at the conference, representatives of the Provincial Police deployed directing documents and plans related to drug prevention and control, towards the goal of building Lang Son into a "drug-free province" by 2030.
According to Plan No. 96 of the Provincial People's Committee on building communes and wards without drugs in the 2026-2030 period, in 2026 Lang Son strives to have at least 30% of communes and wards without drugs; in 2027 reaching at least 50%; in 2028 reaching at least 70%; in 2029 reaching at least 85% and by 2030 striving for 100% of communes and wards to meet this criterion.
Speaking in conclusion, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Nhan requested departments, branches, and localities to diversify propaganda forms; improve the effectiveness of managing addicts, support community reintegration to reduce the risk of relapse; strengthen coordination between forces to detect and eliminate complex lines and hotspots and new methods and tricks of drug crime.
