The investment project to build an intersection between Bui Vien Street and Le Hong Phong Street (Hai An Ward) is being implemented to gradually complete the urban transport infrastructure system according to the plan, overcome congestion, and ensure safety for vehicles passing through the Bui Vien - Le Hong Phong - Ngo Gia Tu intersection.
The scale of the project is to complete the construction of the first-floor intersection in the form of an island with a radius of 30m. On the Bui Vien route, an underpass will be invested with a permanent reinforced concrete structure, with a total length of 485 m, including a closed tunnel 125 m long with a cross-section of a double box (2 compartments, each compartment is 11.95 m wide, 5.25 m high, arranged with 6 lanes) and an open tunnel on both sides with a length of 360 m U-shaped. The width of the closed tunnel is 27.7 m, designed at 70 km/h.
The total investment of the project is more than 707 billion VND from the city budget, implementation period 2024-2027. The project does not have to carry out compensation or site clearance because it is built on the existing traffic land, only moving technical infrastructure works within the construction area.
After completion, all items of underpasses, roads, trees, sidewalks, lighting (including transformer stations), drainage systems, and traffic safety will be handed over to the Hai Phong Department of Construction for management. The water supply and fire extinguishing items were handed over to Hai Phong Water Supply Joint Stock Company for management and exploitation.
The intersection is expected to contribute to reducing traffic volume on National Highway 5 through the inner city and neighboring routes, creating an architectural highlight in the city's urban space.
According to the Decision, the Hai Phong Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board is the project investor. The consulting unit for the survey and feasibility study report is the Joint Venture of Truong Son Consulting Joint Stock Company and Traffic Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company 1.
