Implementing the Campaign "500 days and nights searching, gathering and identifying martyrs' remains with missing information", by August 18, the city had organized sampling at 213 cemeteries in 88 communes, wards, and special zones; exhumed 2,426 graves, collected 1,861 biological samples of martyrs' remains and handed them over to the Military Forensic Institute in accordance with regulations.
Currently, the city is focusing maximum manpower and vehicles, striving to complete the entire biological sample collection before August 24, exceeding the time limit assigned by the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 3 by about 3 months.
Regarding search and repatriation work, the whole city currently has 65 martyrs who have not been taken to rest at cemeteries, mainly concentrated in Vinh Bao commune and the former Kien Thuy district area. Notably, through reviewing and verifying information, functional agencies determined that in the Ma Chia area (Mai Son village, Vinh Bao commune) there are collective graves of 8 martyrs but have not been repatriated to date.
Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Dao Trong Duc requested Vinh Bao Commune People's Committee to urgently complete the review and adjustment of planning, and prepare a project dossier to build a relic site in the Ma Chia area. The project not only serves the preparation, organization of excavation, and convenient search for martyrs' remains, but also contributes to preserving the "red address", educating revolutionary traditions for the young generation; and at the same time creates favorable conditions for the preparation and organization of excavation and search for martyrs' remains.
