In mid-April, in many highland communes of Lao Cai province, the construction atmosphere of traffic routes took place urgently.
After each road section is expanded, there are land plots that people voluntarily donate, contributing to the formation of new infrastructure, creating motivation for local economic development.

Recorded in Van Ho village, Bat Xat commune, the Van Ho - Suoi Chai road, more than 7km long, is gradually being expanded. From a narrow, winding dirt road, many sections have been leveled, expanded foundations, and concreted.
Previously, people's travel and transportation of agricultural products faced many difficulties, especially in the rainy season. When the road opening policy was implemented, people quickly responded.
Mr. Ly Cui Phu's family is one of the typical households when donating thousands of square meters of cultivated land.
“Before, traveling was very hard, making products was also difficult to sell. Now that there is a road, people are more convenient, so my family is willing to donate land,” Mr. Phu shared.

Not only Mr. Phu's family, many other households also simultaneously signed commitments to donate land, dismantle fences and trees to make way for the road.
The Van Ho - Suoi Chai route, expected to be completed in 2026, will serve more than 100 households, connecting schools and production areas.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of Bat Xat Commune People's Committee said that the road is of great significance to the lives of local people.
When there was a policy to implement, people were very supportive, creating conditions for the commune to start the project. It is expected that when completed in 2026, the road will end the muddy situation in the rainy season and dust in the dry season, helping people travel more conveniently," Mr. Hung said.
Similarly, on the Son Ha - Co Ba route connecting Bao Thang and Tang Loong communes, 138 households have voluntarily donated more than 7.6ha of land to serve the project.
The 8.4km long road, with a total investment of more than 28 billion VND, has been completed and put into use since the end of March 2026.

According to people, in the early days, they could not avoid hesitation when having to give up production land, but when they were propagandized and explained clearly about long-term benefits, the majority agreed.
The roads after completion all have concrete road surfaces about 3.5m wide, creating favorable conditions for vehicles to enter and exit conveniently, replacing previous trails.
On the Son Ha - Co Ba route, the effectiveness has been clearly seen after being put into use. Agricultural products such as cinnamon, bananas, and forest products are transported more easily, reducing costs and increasing value.

Mr. Ban Van Khoai (Tra Trau village, Bao Thang commune) said: "People here mainly grow bananas and cinnamon. Being invested in this new road by the state, people's travel and transportation of agricultural products are very convenient, and the economy is also more developed.
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Anh - Head of the Economic Department of Bao Thang commune assessed that the project affects more than 138 households, but thanks to doing a good job of mobilization, people are highly supportive and willing to donate land to open roads.
After handover and put into use, the connection between communes is more convenient, creating conditions for hilly and forest economic development, and at the same time helping people save transportation costs for agricultural products," Mr. Ngoc Anh informed.

According to local authorities, in the coming time, they will continue to mobilize people to donate land, expand branch routes, and gradually complete the inter-regional transportation network.
