Recently, due to the influence of storm No. 11, many places in Thai Nguyen province have experienced prolonged heavy rain, causing flooding and landslides in some mountainous areas.
On October 28, according to a source from Lao Dong Newspaper, in Cau Boi village, Trai Cau commune (formerly in Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen), a dam broke, causing damage to people in the downstream area.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter in October 2025, the area where the incident occurred was tens of thousands of square meters wide, located near Ngan Me forest, surrounded by mountains, forests and agricultural areas.
At the scene, along the downstream of the dam, soil and large rocks were lying haphazardly, with trees on both sides collapsing and breaking.
Below, rocks and soil after the incident have overflowed into the fields, into the fish ponds of the people, many areas of rice fields have turned into fields with rocks and soil, and rice stumps have been buried.

The area of the reservoir is still covered with patches of soil and rock, which pose a potential risk of further landslides if there is prolonged heavy rain.
According to local people, this dam contains water because a household blocked the stream and built it to store water for fish farming. Due to the lack of a flood drainage system, after prolonged heavy rain, the water rose and created water pressure, causing the bank to break.
As a household living right downstream - where the incident occurred, Mr. T.V.T said that the incident happened since the beginning of October, after consecutive days of heavy rain, the water rose rapidly, then suddenly overflowed the embankment.

"The rocks and soil from the dam overflowed down, looking at it both scared and painful. Luckily, it did not pour into the house, but many fields in front were buried, and the fish pond was also affected, it is very painful because so much effort has now been lost," said Mr. T.
Many other households were also affected, most of the fields were buried by rocks and soil, the drainage ditch system was blocked, and some areas had to be abandoned.
Previously, informing reporters, the People's Committee of Trai Cau commune confirmed the above incident and said that the incident had directly affected the rice fields and fish ponds of households in the downstream area.
The dam area contains water because a local household separated the stream and re- compelled it to store water for aquaculture.
"The locality is coordinating to check, verify the cause, and at the same time count the damage to affected households," the commune added.
