Mr. Tran Hau Lam - Vice Chairman of Thach Ngoc Commune People's Committee - said that Ha dam in Quy Hai village, Thach Ngoc commune broke in the early morning of May 25 with a broken length of about 6-7m and a width of about 4m.
After the Ha dam broke, water from the dam's body flowed massively downstream, causing nearly 10 hectares of rice and crops near the dam's foot to be flooded; water also overflowed into the gardens of some local residents.
Ha Dam has an area of about 6-7 hectares. The dam was built around 1986, the foot of the dam is about 3m high. The dam has a capacity of about 230,000m3, providing irrigation water for dozens of hectares of crops in the area.

The impact of heavy rain from the afternoon of May 24 to the early morning of May 25 caused many localities in Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Ky Anh districts, Ha Tinh city, Huong Khe district, Vu Quang to be deeply flooded.

Due to heavy rain and floods overnight, many households could not raise their assets, especially newly harvested rice, causing many tons of rice to be wet, many hectares of rice in the fields that had not been harvested to be deeply flooded; many livestock and poultry died and were swept away by floodwaters.
Currently, this locality is synthesizing and counting the damage.

A quick report from the People's Committee of Cam My commune (Cam Xuyen district) shows that this commune has more than 40 hectares that have not been harvested and are flooded, about 200 tons of harvested rice are brought home and are wet, about 80 hectares of peanuts and corn are flooded, and about 2,000 poultry are washed away. The number of affected households is about 700.
