On December 16, Dong Nai Power Company (PC Dong Nai) held an inauguration ceremony for the 110 kV Long Thanh airport transformer station and connecting lines, with a total capacity of 80 MVA, a total investment of more than 158 billion VND.
According to PC Dong Nai, the project has reached the finish line ahead of schedule, ensuring a high-quality, stable power source to serve the first technical flight on December 19, 2025 and the first phase of operation of Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh airport).

Phase 1 (construction of station, connecting line and installation of T1 - 40MVA transformers) will be completed and energized on November 27, 2024 (2 months ahead of schedule).
Phase 2 ( installing a T2 - 40MVA transformer) started construction on September 29, 2025 and successfully energized on November 24, 2025 - less than 2 months after the water has receded.
On November 29, 2025, PC Dong Nai coordinated with Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to successfully connect and officially connect the national power grid to the airport's internal distribution system - marking an important completion step in the power supply infrastructure for Long Thanh airport - ready to ensure the energy source to serve the trial run of the entire terminal system and air control to the historic technical flight event on December 19.
The project includes a 110 kV line with 2 lines with a length of 3.8 km; two 40 MVA transformers (total 80 MVA), 4 22 kV power outlets directly supplying electricity to airport loads; The station is designed to meet the 110 kV unmanned substation standards of the Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC).

The entire control monitoring system is digitized, remotely controlled through the SCADA system and complies with international protocol IEC 61850. This system allows real-time monitoring of equipment status, ensuring the highest level of power supply reliability.
The project meets the highest technical criteria, ensuring safety standards and high reliability for a particularly important cargo project such as Long Thanh airport. The project also contributes to reducing the 22 kV power supply radius, reducing losses, ensuring voltage quality, and improving the reliability of power supply in neighboring areas.

Mr. Bui Quoc Hoan, Deputy General Director of Southern Power Corporation, said: Long Thanh Airport has a national strategic stature and is expected to become a leading air transit center in the region, a new growth driver of the country in the coming decades. Therefore, the requirement for energy infrastructure does not stop at the level of "enough electricity" but must meet the Safety - Reliability - High Quality standards according to strict standards.

Mr. Truong Dinh Quoc - Director of Dong Nai Power Company said that the operation of the 110 kV station at Long Thanh airport ensures a stable - continuous - high-quality power source, serving the operation of key items such as flight control system, street lighting, passenger terminal, security screening, technical center and auxiliary systems.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Long - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dong Nai province suggested that the electricity industry continue to review and forecast the load to prepare the power grid infrastructure for the next expansion stages of the airport as well as neighboring areas, ensuring that the power infrastructure must always be ahead, closely following the urban - industrial - logistics planning of the area; ACV closely coordinates with PC Dong Nai in connecting and operating the internal power system, ensuring synchronization; regularly reviewing the load, developing long-term power supply scenarios to meet the development needs of the next stages of the airport...
