Ho Chi Minh City - Package XL01, belonging to the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway, reaching 62% of output, is accelerating, determined to reach the finish line at the end of 2026.

The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section (total investment of nearly 15,000 billion VND, about 22 km long) was started on August 19, 2025, including two construction packages XL01 and XL02. In which, package XL01 is undertaken by the contractor consortium Deo Ca Group, the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City, the area concentrates many complex technical items such as viaducts, weak roadbeds and especially Long Thanh bridge, Tac river bridge.

Recorded on the construction site of package XL01, contractors are currently mobilizing more than 800 engineers and workers along with nearly 100 heavy equipment, closely following 34 construction fronts. Up to now, the treatment of weak soil foundation has been basically completed (reaching over 91%). Most of the deep foundation pile system has also been completed. Thanks to that, the output of the entire package reached nearly 62% of the contract value.

According to the initial contract, the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2027. However, before the urgent requirement to synchronize infrastructure with Long Thanh International Airport, the investor and contractors are focusing efforts to maintain "3 shifts, 4 crews" construction on the entire route, setting a goal to shorten the progress by about two months to put the project into operation at the end of 2026.

According to the investor, Long Thanh 2 bridge is identified as a key item that determines the overall progress of the entire project. Here, units are focusing their efforts on completing the underwater foundation structure to move to the girder laying and bridge deck construction phase.

In particular, in the main bridge span area, the entire foundation and large pillar body have been completed. Currently, engineers are focusing on constructing key elevated structures to prepare for girder casting, connecting the river-crossing bridge spans. This important item has now reached 52% of the construction volume.

In order to speed up progress, the investor and project contractors have just launched a emulation campaign "180 days and nights of determination to complete the HCMC - Long Thanh expressway expansion project". Construction lines are reorganized flexibly, mobilizing maximum manpower and machinery to maintain a continuous working pace day and night on the construction site. In the next phase, the project will focus on completing the remaining core infrastructure items. The expansion expressway when inaugurated at the end of 2026 will directly clear traffic bottlenecks at the eastern gateway of HCMC, while creating a synchronous and continuous connection axis with Long Thanh International Airport.
