The project of Embankment to Overcome Landslides on the Chu and Cau rivers through Dong Tam town (Cho Moi district) has a total investment of 63.3 billion VND, invested by the Bac Kan Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Project Management Board. The project started on September 15, 2024.
The embankment has a total length of nearly 2,000m, deployed with the goal of preventing riverbank erosion and landslides, ensuring safety for households, cultivated land and works along both banks.
On March 7, Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter noted that after half a year of construction, the flood-proof embankment has been completed with all items, including embankment surface, embankment body, and protection railing.

The concrete embankment runs along the river, high, preventing floodwaters from entering. Iron railings along the route are safe. The embankment surface is leveled, creating a wide path.
As a household with a house along the riverbank, Mr. Nguyen Van Huy said that in the past, during the rainy season, the river water often rose, posing a potential risk of landslides, affecting people's houses and gardens.
"Now that the embankment is built solidly and high, he and many surrounding households are more secure, no longer worried about floodwaters causing damage to property," Mr. Huy shared.
Sharing the same joy, Ms. Tran Thi Mai (Cho Moi) said that the completed embankment not only helps protect the land but also creates a more spacious and cleaner travel space than before.
Previously, this area was often covered with mud, overgrown with grass, and many sections of the riverbank were muddy during the rainy season. Now, the embankment surface has been leveled, with open roads, in the morning and evening, many people come here to exercise and cool down.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Ma Ngoc Dang - Chairman of Dong Tam town said that up to now, the project of the embankment to prevent landslides on the Chu and Cau rivers has been completed.
This is a meaningful project, when completed, it has contributed to positive changes, making the riverside area more spacious and convenient for people's living, while improving the landscape and creating a clean and beautiful space.
