In the early morning of April 2, a fire broke out at houses No. 66B and 66C on Mac Van Street, Xom Coi Ward, District 8, killing 3 people in a family. Ms. Tran Thi Chanh (67 years old), the owner of house 66B, had to witness the heartbreaking scene of losing her son, daughter and grandchild in just a few short minutes.

Mrs. Chanh recounted that when she had just returned from a street vendor, leaning her back on the bed, the explosion and smoke exploded from the ground floor of her house. The small house, only 27 square meters wide, with a garden divided into three bedrooms, where her 7 grandchildren and great-grandchildren were sleeping passionately.
"I heard an explosion, then a few seconds later, smoke and fire rose. I shouted, the house was on fire, the fire was on fire, I ran out with the child. The children and grandchildren at home also left the door, but... now I have nothing left...", Ms. Chanh choked up.
In panic, Mr. Nguyen Quang Truong (27 years old, Mrs. Chanh's son-in-law) promptly took his child of several months to his grandmother to carry out, then returned to save his wife and grandchild V.D.K (6 years old). However, the fire was too big, covered in black smoke, causing him to helplessly witness the house collapse. Mr. Truong confided: "I can only shout, seeing the house collapse in helplessness...".

Mr. Tran Ngoc Sinh (36 years old, son of Mrs. Chanh) was also lucky to escape with his wife while sleeping up there. Mr. Sinh said that the suspected cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit from the ground floor, where there were many household items.
While sleeping up there with my wife, I felt the burning smell, the heat and the screams of my mother that woke me up. Seeing the fire, I shouted, my wife and I threw the door open, jumped down, there were three people trapped, unable to escape in time, Mr. Sinh recalled.
According to Mr. Sinh, knowing that there were people trapped inside, he planned to rush in to save people, but the fire was too big and he was helpless. In the attic of the burning house, people were divided into 3 separate rooms of about 6 to 7 m2/room. Mr. Sinh and his wife on the outer edge of the house should have opened the door in time to jump out and escape, if they had only been a few seconds late, they would have lost their lives.

The fire broke out at 66B and 66C Mac Van Street, Xom Coi Ward, District 8 at more than 2:00 a.m. on April 2.
House 66B had 8 people, 5 people escaped by themselves. 3 deceased people have been found: Mr. H.A.D (born in 1979), Ms. L.T.B.T (born in 1998) and V.D.K (born in 2019, daughter of Ms. T.).
Regarding property damage, house 66B was completely burned down, house 66C had its southern part burned down. Authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire...
