Regarding the house fire on Mac Van Street, Xom Coi Ward, District 8 that killed 3 people, at more than 10am, District 8 forces in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City forces were still blocking off the scene and investigating the cause.

The victims in the fire were identified as: Mr. H.A.D (born in 1979), Ms. L.T.B.T (born in 1998), V.D.K (born in 2019, son of Ms. T).
Talking to reporters, a witness at the scene said that Mr. D and Ms. T were brothers between mother and father, and K was Ms. T's eldest son. In the victim's family, there were 8 people living together. At the time of the fire (early morning of 2.5), Mr. D and Ms. T's mothers went to work as night servants and came home late.


When she returned home, Ms. T's mother saw the fire and shouted loudly. Immediately afterwards, many people in the burned victim's house ran out. Ms. T also ran out in time to carry her nearly 8-month-old child to give to her husband to run out first.
After that, Ms. T returned to rescue her brother, Mr. D, and her eldest son, K. However, Mr. D fell asleep and could not wake him up. Ms. T took baby K out, but at that moment, the attic collapsed and crushed the mother and child, causing Ms. T and baby K to die on the spot.


The fire quickly spread, burning down the house and affecting the attic of the adjacent house. District 8 Fire Police quickly arrived at the scene, deployed fire extinguishers and rescue operations.
By 2:45 a.m., the fire was completely extinguished. However, 3 members of the family could not escape and died.

On the same morning, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc visited and encouraged the victims' families. The authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and count the damage.
