On the afternoon of September 17, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Bui Thanh Tung - Vice Chairman of Lac Son District People's Committee informed that heavy rain for many days due to the circulation of storm No. 3, in Tuan Dao commune, Lac Son district, many cracks and prolonged subsidence appeared, threatening to affect 111 households in Rai hamlet.
According to Mr. Tung, there are many cracks and subsidence from 10 to 15 meters long and 2 to 3 meters deep, in addition to many small cracks, affecting an area of about 7 hectares. The location of the cracks and subsidence is in a high hill area, less than 100 meters from the residential area.
"The cracks and subsidence points are still continuing to grow wider. As of today (September 17), the locality has continued to move 10 more households to safety.
Up to now, a total of 60 households with about 250 people have had to move to live with relatives and the village cultural house in the safe area," said Mr. Tung.
Also according to the Vice Chairman of Lac Son District People's Committee, currently the functional forces of the district and commune are maintaining security and order in areas at risk of landslides.
In addition, due to the limited resources of the district, the locality has also proposed that the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province pay attention to and support funding for the construction of a resettlement area for households in Rai hamlet, Tuan Dao commune to stabilize their lives.
On September 16, Secretary of the Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long and a working delegation from the province visited the scene and inspected the landslide area in Rai hamlet, Tuan Dao commune, Lac Son district.
The Secretary of the Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee requested Lac Son district to pay attention to supporting the lives of the people, absolutely not allowing people to return to their old residences when safety is not guaranteed. At the same time, he requested that all levels, sectors and localities must not be negligent, subjective, or lose vigilance, and must ensure absolute safety for the people.
