On January 11, leaders of Military Region 7 said that after many days of deployment in complex terrain conditions and harsh weather, the forces have collected and handled points contaminated with CS toxins on people's production areas.

Colonel Tran Thien Phuc, Head of the Chemistry Department of Military Region 7, said that after three days, the unit collected more than 400kg of CS poison along with 30 cubic meters of soil and toxic materials.
All hazardous waste is put into specialized bins, treated with 10% saline solution to eliminate military toxicity.

This is an important step of handling, creating a basis for Military Region 7 to continue to develop a handling plan in the next phase, aiming to thoroughly clean up the environment, ensuring long-term safety for land and local people's lives.
Not only "cleaning up" the environment, officers and soldiers of Military Region 7 and the Area 3 - Bao Lam Defense Command also joined hands to support re-roofing the house for Mr. and Mrs. K'Dung (78 years old), who are near-poor households.

It is known that Mr. K'Dung's family mainly lives by agricultural production on an area of more than four sao of land, currently raising three grandchildren to study, one of whom is sponsored by the Commune Women's Union.
Having a new house, Mr. K'Dung's family is more reassured and has more motivation to take care of their children's education.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Cat Tien 3 commune, affirmed that the practical and responsible actions of officers and soldiers of Military Region 7 have left a beautiful image and deep feelings in the hearts of local people.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, from January 7, the chemical force and military agency of Military Region 7 organized the collection and thorough treatment of CS poison and hydrolysis products of CS poison residue after the war in Bu Gia Ra and Bu Sa villages (Cat Tien 3 commune).
According to local authorities, during the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism for national salvation, Bu Gia Ra and Bu Sa villages, belonging to the old Dong Nai Thuong commune (now Cat Tien 3), were revolutionary bases, gateways to War Zone D.
This area plays an important strategic role in building and leading the revolutionary movement of the South, and is also the operating place of the Central Bureau of the South.
Dong Nai Thuong commune revolutionary base is a place with a strong historical mark, associated with the great victories of the Vietnamese nation in the two resistance wars.
