On April 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee to hold the inauguration ceremony of the Krong Pac Thuong reservoir project, phase 1.

Speaking at the ceremony, Central Party Committee member and Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy said: "The construction of the Krong rich Thuong reservoir project has strategic significance. This is a multi-purpose project, not only a reservoir, but also a tool to regulate water resources for agriculture and daily life for people.

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, phase 1 of the project not only provides stable domestic water for people but also serves livestock production and economic activities. The project also cuts floods, reduces flooding for downstream areas, and protects production infrastructure.
The project also creates tourism landscape, climate control, aquaculture development, and improves the lives of people in the area. At the same time, it contributes to ensuring water security, food security and national defense for the entire Central Highlands region.

"Constructing the Krong rich Thuong reservoir is a solution to respond to challenges related to water security and climate change. This is a concrete step to realize the Central's policies and orientations for agricultural and rural development, sustainable agricultural development in the Central Highlands.
Thereby, making the Central Highlands a model for ecological agricultural development, green growth and circular economy of the whole country...", the Minister of Agriculture and Environment added.
The Krong Pac Thuong Lake Project Phase 1 is a key project of Dak Lak province. The entire project is divided into 2 phases.
Phase 1 includes the following items: Ea Pat Lake Cluster, Krong Pac Thuong Lake, 52km of main canal and 9 level 1 canals.
Ea Rap Lake, with a capacity of nearly 20 million cubic meters, has been put into use, providing irrigation water for about 2,150 hectares. Meanwhile, Krong Pach Thuong Lake has a capacity of 123 million cubic meters, expected to serve irrigation for 12,000 hectares, mainly in Ea Kar district.
Due to problems in site clearance, at the end of 2018, the project's investment was adjusted to VND4,421 billion.
By 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) will continue to allocate an additional VND1,120 billion to implement phase 2, extending from 2023 to 2026.
