At about 7:30 pm on July 18, people discovered a forest fire in Sub-area 450, belonging to Binh Yen village, Que Phuoc commune, Da Nang city and reported it to the local authorities.
Immediately upon receiving the news, more than 100 officers, soldiers, medical forces, forest protection and people, along with many fire trucks, were urgently mobilized to the scene. Leaders of Que Phuoc commune directly directed the zoning and prevention of fire spreading.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tao Thi To Diem - Chairwoman of Que Phuoc Commune People's Committee - said that firefighting work faced many difficulties because it took place at night, the terrain was complex and strong winds caused the fire to break out fiercely. The forces had to divide into many directions to approach, create firebreaks and protect the surrounding forest area.
By about 0:30 on July 19, the fire was basically under control. Functional forces continued to inspect the scene, extinguish the embers to prevent the fire from rekindling, and finished firefighting at after 4:30 am.
The cause of the forest fire was people burning vegetation, on a base of rotten firewood, in hot weather conditions, strong winds leading to the fire spreading quickly. The forest fire caused initial damage of about nearly 1 hectare of production forest" - the leader of Que Phuoc commune said.
