Dien Bien - More than 1,000 people attended the coffee festival associated with eco-tourism in Bung Lao commune.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of October 18, at Dao Vien Son tourist destination, Bung Lao commune, Dien Bien province, more than 1,000 people attended the "Coffee Festival associated with eco-tourism in Bung Lao commune, 2025".

Accordingly, the festival aims to promote the Muong Ang coffee brand, a product that has been approved for a map of the geographical indication for coffee products, thereby affirming its position in the market.

Mr. Truong Hong Bach - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bung Lao commune said that in the economic structure of the commune, agriculture is the main production sector, in which coffee plays a leading role in developing household economy, creating stable, long-term jobs, and increasing income for people.

Up to now, Bung Lao commune has nearly 1,000 hectares of coffee trees, with an annual output of about 8,500 tons. Bung Lao, along with neighboring communes, is a key coffee area of Dien Bien province" - Mr. Bach added.

According to the leader of Bung Lao commune, the commune's coffee products have been purchased and processed by many businesses, affirming their value and reputation in the market.

In particular, the commune has a Viet Bac Coffee Processing Factory with a scale and consumption capacity of 250-300 tons of fresh fruit/day and night, contributing to product coverage, increasing value, market competitiveness and stable income for coffee growers.

At the festival, the highlight is the "hanha rap tai" competition. Accordingly, 7 teams from villages in the commune competed in knowledge, skills, experience and understanding of coffee production; coffee picking competition...

The coffee festival will take place on October 18 and 19 with many attractive activities such as: culinary tray competition, hands-on experience at Viet Bac Coffee Processing Factory, eco-tourism experience at Dao Vien Son tourist destination...

Previously, on August 18, 2025, Mr. Vu A Bang - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee signed Decision No. 1851 approving the map of the " Muong Ang" geographical indication area for Muong Ang coffee products.

The Provincial People's Committee authorizes the Department of Agriculture and Environment to use the place name "Muong Ang" to register geographical indications for Muong Ang coffee products.

Currently, the Arabica coffee area in Muong Ang district (old) is more than 3,000 hectares - this is also the locality with the largest coffee growing area in Dien Bien province.
