Ho Chi Minh City - On September 2nd, more than 119,000 passengers passed through Tan Son Nhat, although the number of passengers was large, the airport was still airy, without congestion.

On September 2nd, the last day of the National Day holiday, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is expected to serve 119,159 passengers, including 54,166 departure and 64,993 arrival passengers. The entire airport is expected to operate 771 flights, including 385 departure and 386 arrival flights. Records at terminals and airport gateways show that passenger pick-up and drop-off takes place quite smoothly, without congestion.

Notably, out of nearly 65,000 passengers arriving at Tan Son Nhat, the number of domestic passengers accounted for 38,665 people. Terminal T3 alone is expected to receive 22,792 domestic passengers with 143 flights on September 2. This figure contributes to reducing the pressure of capital concentration at Terminal T1 during previous peak periods.

Previously, Tan Son Nhat International Airport forecast that September 2nd would be the peak passenger arrival day, with about 135,000 passengers passing through the airport. Thus, the number of passengers in the new operating plan is about 15,841 less, equivalent to a decrease of nearly 12% compared to previous forecasts.

Recorded on the afternoon of September 2nd, there was no jostling in the area of the hall to terminal T3. Passengers, after taking their luggage, quickly moved to the area to pick up taxis, technology cars and relatives' cars. Vehicles were guided to enter the correct area, and no prolonged stopping and parking causing traffic obstruction was recorded.

Mr. Tran Minh Hoang, a passenger from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, said that checking in and receiving luggage at T3 took place quite quickly. "My flight arrived on time. After getting off the plane, I received my luggage and went to the lobby to pick up the bus quite conveniently, without having to wait long," Mr. Hoang said.

At Terminal T1, the number of domestic passengers arriving during the day is about 15,900 people. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van, a passenger returning from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City, said that before the flight, her family was quite worried because this was the last day of the holiday. "I thought the airport would be very crowded, taking a taxi might take a long time. However, when going to the lobby, vehicles still moved orderly, with staff guiding, so my family got on the car quite quickly," Ms. Van shared.

To serve the increased number of passengers during the holiday, functional forces have deployed traffic regulation plans early. Traffic police, border gate police, aviation security and related units are arranged at key locations to guide and divert vehicles.

During this occasion, the direct connection route from international terminal T2 to domestic terminal T1 was also opened, contributing to creating more directions for vehicles to exit the airport area, limiting traffic conflicts at points that are often under pressure.

Despite serving more than 119,000 passengers, the number of passengers through Tan Son Nhat on September 2 was still much lower than the record of nearly 178,000 passengers/day set during the peak period after the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday 2026.
