More than 1,500 households in flooded areas along the Dong Nai River were evacuated to safety

Lam Dong - The rising water level of the Dong Nai River caused deep flooding in many areas downstream, and authorities evacuated more than 1,500 households to safety.

On November 21, the Command Committee for Defense of Area 3 - Bao Lam (Lam Dong) informed that from last night to today, hydroelectric reservoirs on the Dong Nai River have released water with a large flow, causing many areas in Cat Tien and Cat Tien 2 communes to be heavily flooded.

In Cat Tien commune, 23/23 villages were partially flooded, traffic was cut off on many roads. Cat Tien 2 commune has 19 areas in 9 villages locally flooded, 7 traffic points are cut off, some of which are flooded more than 2 m deep.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Thong, Commander of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Bao Lam, said that the total number of soldiers participating in the rescue is about 350 people.

Including the forces of the Defense Command of Region 3 - Bao Lam, the Military Command of Cat Tien Commune, Cat Tien Commune 2, the rescue force of the 25th Engineering Brigade and the Logistics - Technical Department of Military Region 7. The mobilized vehicles include 8 canoes, 9 boats and 10 vehicles of all kinds.

The forces coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to support more than 1,500 households with about 7,500 people to evacuate people and property, and moved 2,200 cattle to dry areas.

Currently, the water level continues to rise, at some locations 2 m above the road surface. Rescue forces are on duty 24/7 continuing to rescue and move people and property to safe locations.
