This year, Can Tho city has more than 2,000 citizens joining the army, serving in units under the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security.
At the Ninh Kieu District Military Command, relatives of the soldiers gathered in large numbers since it was still dark.
The military handover ceremony was solemnly held with the participation of Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders of Military Region 9 and Can Tho city.
Soldier Do Nguyen Minh Quan (Cai Khe ward, Ninh Kieu district), when he wrote his application to volunteer for military service, expressed his excitement and anxiety. However, those worries disappeared when he learned that he had been selected.
"I will be determined to complete my mission well to honor my family's tradition," Minh Quan proudly said.
Can Tho City assigned troops to the following units: Division 330, Brigade 226, Brigade 29 and Can Tho City Military Command under Military Region 9; Division 375, Division 367, Division 370 under Air Defense - Air Force and Naval Region 2.
The quality of young people joining the army this year in Can Tho city is considered higher than last year. Technical expertise reached over 27%; the percentage of party members reached nearly 3%; the percentage of health type 1 and type 2 reached nearly 50%.
To achieve this result, Can Tho city has strictly managed the source of citizens ready to join the army, regularly reviewing and supplementing citizens who have graduated from universities, colleges, and vocational high schools.

The city has also done a good job of propaganda and education to raise awareness of the law on military service, strictly implemented health examination work; was open, democratic, transparent and objective in all stages and steps of military recruitment.
In particular, the city focuses on military rear policies and social policies for families with children participating in military service.
