On January 30, Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee said that it had just sent a document to the Ministry of Finance requesting consideration and submission to competent authorities to support more than 106 billion VND to overcome damage caused by animal diseases on land and pay funds to forces participating in epidemic prevention and control in the province in 2025.
According to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, in 2025, many dangerous diseases on livestock such as African swine fever, epidermatitis on buffaloes and cows, and avian flu occurred in many localities, causing great damage to livestock activities, negatively impacting people's incomes, lives, and the stability of the local agricultural sector.
Among the types of epidemics, African swine fever is identified as the most serious, causing great damage to the province's key livestock industry. From January 1st to December 31st, 2025, Quang Ngai province has more than 92,000 pigs forced to be culled due to disease. The total funding requested to support livestock farms with pigs damaged is more than 208 billion VND. This is the largest proportion of the total funding support for damage caused by animal diseases on land in the province in the past year.
Cutaneous rash on buffaloes and cows also caused damage, with 25 cattle being destroyed in 2025. Support funds are proposed at nearly 140 million VND.
Regarding avian flu, from the end of July to the end of 2025, the province recorded more than 25,500 dead and destroyed poultry. The total proposed support cost is more than 1 billion VND.
In addition to supporting damaged livestock facilities, Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee also proposed to allocate more than 3.2 billion VND to support those who do not receive salaries from the state budget to directly participate in the work of preventing and controlling animal diseases on land.
This is the core force at the grassroots level, participating in disinfection, sterilization, destruction of diseased animals, epidemiological surveillance and zoning for epidemic control. According to the Provincial People's Committee, the active participation of this force plays a very important role in controlling and preventing the epidemic from spreading widely.
Summarizing the damage support and funding for land animal disease prevention and control in 2025, Quang Ngai province determined the total funding needs of nearly 213 billion VND. According to current regulations, the central budget supports 50%, so the province requests the Ministry of Finance to soon consider and submit to competent authorities to support more than 106 billion VND.
Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee said that the early allocation of support funds is of particular importance, helping farmers overcome the consequences after the epidemic, gradually restore production, stabilize life, and reduce pressure on the local budget.
This funding source is also a condition for the provincial agricultural sector to continue to effectively implement measures to prevent and control animal diseases in the coming time, limit the risk of epidemic recurrence, and contribute to ensuring safety for livestock production.
