African swine fever (hereinafter referred to as swine fever) in Ninh Binh is developing complicatedly. Currently, swine fever has broken out on a large scale and is at risk of affecting food supply during the upcoming Lunar New Year.
According to a report by the Ninh Binh Provincial Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine, the pork cholera situation in the province is having new developments with the emergence of more outbreaks in localities.
On January 25, functional forces recorded new outbreaks in 2 communes of Bac Ly and Dong Thai. On the same day, functional forces destroyed 67 pigs with a total weight of 3,147kg.
Since January 1, 2026, Ninh Binh province has had to destroy a total of 2,358 pigs. Including 122 sows, breeding male pigs and 2,236 meat pigs, piglets. The total weight of destruction is 136,465kg. As of January 25, Ninh Binh province still has 28 communes and wards with pork cholera epidemics that have not passed 21 days.
Faced with the above situation, the Ninh Binh Provincial Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine is implementing synchronous prevention measures to control and prevent the spread of swine fever. At the same time, guiding localities to seriously and drastically implement the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment as well as the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee on swine fever prevention and control.
In addition, continue to promote information and propaganda in many forms to help businesses and farmers understand the danger level of the epidemic, as well as preventive measures and accurately grasp support policies from the State.
