On September 23, the Military Command (CHQS) of Hue City said that the unit has basically completed the dismantling of all 31/31 bunkers, underground tunnels, watchtowers and old military structures in the Hue Citadel area. The remaining part is to restore the road surface after bringing vehicles and machinery to serve the dismantling.
The work was deployed from July 30, expected to be completed on September 30 but was completed 5 days ahead of schedule.
This is an item under the plan to preserve, restore and embellish the Hue Citadel system, aiming to handle military structures existing in the relic area since the war, gradually returning the space and landscape to suit the heritage value.
The directly implementing force is cadres and soldiers of the engineering force under the Hue City Military Command. The dismantled works are mainly made of reinforced concrete, many items have deteriorated after a long time of existence.
The construction process is carried out carefully to limit the impact on the Citadel walls, foundations and ancient architectural components nearby. The engineering force uses specialized vehicles, dismantles in each area, and handles and transports materials after dismantling.
According to the Hue City Military Command, construction is facing difficulties due to unfavorable weather, traffic in the inner city area and the special characteristic of Hue Citadel being a relic space associated with residential areas, with frequent people and vehicles passing by.
To ensure progress, the unit has strengthened forces, vehicles and coordinated with relevant units in the implementation process.
