Solving employment for many workers
According to the report of the People's Committee of Ia Grai district, from 2021 to 2023, the locality has trained more than 1,000 rural workers in less than 3 months in occupations such as: Construction, motorbike repair, interior electricity; growing coffee, rice, mushrooms...
The district has also effectively implemented a policy to support loans to create jobs for rural workers. In 2021, it disbursed loans of more than VND 8 billion to 242 workers; in 2022, it lent more than VND 26 billion to 663 workers; in 2023, it lent more than VND 24 billion to 530 workers.
The district coordinated with the Gia Lai Provincial Employment Service Center to open 4 job fairs, attracting more than 200 workers to participate. During the period from 2021 to 2023, the whole district had 183 people working abroad under contract.
Mr. Le Ngoc Quy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Grai district, Gia Lai province said: "Vocational training in the area is closely linked to communication activities, career counseling, and labor market information. From there, workers can grasp and understand the needs of businesses and create job opportunities."
Vocational training is associated with local job creation, household economic development, and sustainable poverty reduction.
Besides the achieved results, the quality of vocational training in ethnic minority areas has been improved but compared to the general level, it is still low, and the level of access to science and technology is still limited.
Vocational training based on workers' needs
A representative of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ia Grai district said that currently, the number of permanent teachers at the district's Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education is still small, mainly having to teach on contract. Therefore, the unit has difficulty in monitoring, managing and evaluating training quality.
Currently, the Center must cooperate with Gia Lai Vocational College and Agricultural Service Center to hire teachers to teach students. Most of the teachers are skilled, knowledgeable in their fields and have pedagogical certificates.
However, in vocational fields such as teaching gongs, brocade weaving, knitting, etc., the majority of artisans are old and have qualifications but do not have the required teaching certificates to teach classes.
Therefore, agencies need to be flexible in adjusting and updating Circulars and Decrees to meet the practical learning needs of students.
The competent authority has not yet issued a list of minimum vocational training equipment for each primary training profession and training under 3 months, so the implementation of equipment procurement is still difficult.
In the coming time, Ia Grai district authorities will assign officials to attend village and hamlet meetings to promote recruitment of training professions.
Being close to the people, contacting the people to get information to survey the vocational training needs of rural and mountainous workers, linking vocational training with the economic and social development orientation of the district.
