According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, from 10:00 p.m. on July 27, the authorities mobilized specialized machinery and equipment to handle the incident that caused a "death hole" on Truong Chinh Street (near the intersection with Ton That Tung Street).
Speaking with Lao Dong on the morning of July 28, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure Maintenance (Hanoi Department of Construction) said that relevant units have had an official conclusion on the cause of the subsidence incident on Truong Chinh Street.
Accordingly, the cause was determined to be a broken water supply pipe at level D400. On the other hand, the D100 water supply road is punched through the D400 drainage road, when the water pipe breaks, it causes erosion and drains into the D400 culvert.
"The incident handling work has been completed. The road has been restored to its original state, serving people traveling" - Mr. Hai said.

Previously, at around 8:30 p.m. on July 26, a Honda SH motorbike driven by a male driver, carrying 2 people was traveling on Truong Chinh Street. When it reached 234 Truong Chinh, the front wheel suddenly dropped into a deep hole in the middle of the road.
The incident caused minor damage to the motorbike. Fortunately, the male driver and his passenger were not injured.
When the car was pulled up, the road surface was revealed to a hole about 1m deep, with no water.
That same night, this area was filled in to ensure traffic safety.

According to the leader of the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board, immediately after the incident, the authorities dug and peeled off the road surface where the "death hole" appeared.
When digging up, they discovered that the D100 underground pipeline (pipe with a diameter of 100 mm) of the clean water company had leaked.
Due to the high pressure, when the pipeline leaks, the water erodes the base layer (mixture of crushed stone and pological stone - PV) under the asphalt pavement.
"The clean water unit also admitted that about 10 days ago, there was a phenomenon of leaking groundwater but the location has not been determined," the leader added.
