On May 6, information from the Thanh Hoa Rural Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Center (TTNS-VSMTNT) said that the unit had sent a report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment on the results of analyzing the well water quality of households in Quang Trung village, Thach Quang commune.

According to the report, TTNS-VSMTNT Thanh Hoa has taken 5 water samples from 5 households in Quang Trung village, analyzed 9 group A indicators and 10 group B indicators according to the National Technical Regulation on clean water quality used for domestic purposes (QCVN 01-1:2024/BYT).
The results showed that 5/5 water samples had indicators that did not meet QCVN 01-1:2024/BYT. Specifically, 3/5 water samples showed signs of pollution with abnormally high indicators of color, turbidity, odor, permanganate, sulfur, Coliform, E. coli.
Based on the above results, TTNS-VSMTNT Thanh Hoa proposed to stop using well water at 3/5 households that have taken samples. For the remaining 2 households, the water source needs to be treated through a filtration system and boiled before use.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, in the first half of April 2026, many households in Quang Trung village, Thach Quang commune discovered that drilled well water suddenly turned red-purple, accompanied by a foul odor.
According to people, this situation had happened before, but this time it is serious and prolonged. Not only is the color of the drilled well water changed, a similar phenomenon has also appeared at Bai Ron stream in the village.
After the incident occurred, people reported it to the local authorities and functional agencies. Upon receiving the information, functional forces checked and took water samples to verify and clarify.
Initial verification determined that the phenomenon of Bai Ron stream water and drilled well water of households changing color is related to the waste discharge incident of BOB Hanoi Co., Ltd. - Branch 1 (textile and garment, laundry sector) in the area.
On April 20, Thach Quang Commune People's Committee issued a document requesting BOB Hanoi Co., Ltd. to temporarily suspend laundry operations at Thach Tuong Export Garment Factory to review and renovate the entire wastewater collection and treatment system; overcome the situation of untreated wastewater flowing into the environment.
