Recorded by PV on June 28, at the project construction site, workers and machinery and equipment were mobilized to synchronously deploy items.
A large amount of soil and rock on the taluy bank has been relocated to ensure safety. The hillside that used to be vertical, next to people's houses, has now been lowered into steps to limit landslides.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoai (Phan Dinh Phung ward) said that at the foot of Ong Dong hill is a densely populated residential area. Every rainy and storm season comes, people are constantly worried about the high risk of landslides.
The landslide recovery project is being urgently implemented, so people are very excited. We hope it will be completed soon to ensure safety for households before this year's rainy and flood season," Mr. Hoai said.

According to Phan Dinh Phung Ward People's Committee, implementing the direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the locality has requested the contractor unit to mobilize all machinery and equipment to level and transport soil. The solution proposed is to use stone cages to handle landslide locations.
When the project is completed, it will ensure safety for dozens of households in Phan Dinh Phung ward, ending the landslide situation in the Ong Dong hill area.
Previously, in 2024, after the heavy impact of Typhoon Yagi, the Ong Dong hill area in Phan Dinh Phung ward experienced serious landslides.
By Typhoon Matmo in 2025, landslides continued to appear in this area. The hillside here is about 600m long, up to 25m high, directly affecting dozens of local households.
Not only are people worried about living under prolonged cracks and landslides, but they are also worried about the risk of soil and rocks falling on crowded residential areas every time it rains for a long time.
Although people once reinforced and temporarily built embankments themselves, the landslide situation still continues. At one point, soil on the hill flooded into a household's house, causing the family to evacuate to ensure safety.
Faced with the above situation, from 2024, Thai Nguyen City (old) has approved an emergency project to overcome landslides at Ong Dong hill.

The project was approved as an emergency project with a total investment of nearly 5.8 billion VND. The technical solutions proposed include: excavating and reinforcing the taluy slope, building a rock cage system to prevent landslides and surface water drainage.
However, due to some difficulties and obstacles, the project only completed about 60% and then temporarily stopped.
By mid-May 2026, the Standing Committee of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee had a document requesting relevant units to comprehensively review the project, clarify difficulties and obstacles to accelerate progress, ensuring completion before June 30, 2026.
