On the afternoon of September 23, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ha Trung Kien - Chairman of Tan Hop Commune People's Committee - said that the locality is focusing on overcoming the consequences of the serious landslide that occurred on Lang Cau road, belonging to Goc Gao village.
At the scene, a part of the hill collapsed with a length of about 80m, the slope collapsed about 120m high. The amount of soil and rock estimated from 5,000-6,000m3 spilled down, completely buried the road surface, making it impossible for vehicles to travel.
The landslide also caused the collapse and breakage of 2 0.4kV power poles, and also caused damage to many areas of cinnamon trees of people.
According to Mr. Ha Trung Kien, the incident occurred at about 8:30 am on September 19, after many days of prolonged rain. The landslide point is located on the road to old Lang Cau village, now belonging to Goc Gao village.
Soil and rocks fell across the road, causing traffic to be paralyzed, 37 households with more than 100 people in the Cau Tren village area were isolated.
Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities mobilized forces to inspect the scene and find remedial measures.
However, because the landslide area still poses a potential risk of further landslides, functional forces cannot bring machinery to handle it immediately.
To ensure the minimum travel needs of the people, Tan Hop commune directed Goc Gao village to open a temporary pedestrian path around the landslide point, about 400m long.
From September 21-23, when the conditions in the area are assessed to be safer, local authorities mobilize people to participate in site clearance, and at the same time bring excavators and soil and rock transport vehicles to the scene to handle the landslide point.
Not only focusing on clearing large volumes of soil and rock, the construction force must also continue to monitor geological developments, ensuring safety during the recovery process.
Mr. Ha Trung Kien said that the locality is accelerating progress with the immediate goal of reopening the road for people's motorbikes.
