On September 20, Mr. Thai Luong Thien - Chairman of Yen Na Commune People's Committee, Nghe An province said that the locality has mobilized dozens of people to clear and open a temporary road more than 1km long to access the two villages of Huoi Pai and Cha Lum, where more than 300 households with more than 1,200 people are isolated due to landslides.
According to Mr. Thien, the temporary road opened around the landslide area has been blocked, only serving pedestrians. From the starting point of the temporary road to the two villages of Huoi Pai and Cha Lum, it takes about 15 minutes to walk.
The temporary road opening was completed at noon on September 20, creating conditions for functional forces to access and support people in the isolated area.
Previously, in the afternoon of September 19, about 3,000m3 of soil and rocks from Bu Pai hill suddenly slid down provincial road 543C, burying the road surface for dozens of meters. Soil and rocks, forest trees continued to overflow the road, blocking about 1/4 of the flow at Cha Ha stream.
The landslide point is about 200m away from the residential area, posing a potential risk of further landslides, causing flash floods if heavy rain lasts.
Provincial road 543C is more than 51km long, connecting provincial road 543B with National Highway 16, is a traffic route serving the travel and trade needs of people in the area.
Faced with the above situation, the Yen Na commune government has blockaded the landslide area, not allowing people and vehicles to access dangerous places. At the same time, the locality continues to review points at risk of landslides, flash floods, and landslides to proactively warn and develop plans to relocate people when necessary.
Yen Na Commune People's Committee recommends that people not approach landslide areas, do not travel, graze cattle or exploit at Cha Ha stream and areas at risk of being affected.
