On September 22, information from the Party Committee of Tan Hop commune, Lao Cai province, prolonged heavy rain caused serious landslides on the road to Cau Tren village, Goc Gao village.
The volume of soil and rock from the positive taluy landslide down to the road is estimated at more than 5,000m3. The landslide caused the road to be blocked, 37 households with more than 100 people were isolated in terms of traffic.
By 8 pm on September 22, people had to follow the hillside to reach the area outside the landslide point.
Some families with sick young children have difficulty taking them to commune centers for medical examination; children also have to take leave from school because safety is not guaranteed when passing through landslide areas.
Tan Hop commune authorities mobilized forces and machinery to handle soil and rocks, and at the same time stretched warning ropes and sent people to guide people to move.
However, soil and rocks continue to slide down, posing a potential danger, so the locality recommends that people temporarily do not pass through this area.
The commune is mobilizing people to support site clearance so that machinery can access and soon clear the road.
