In the early morning of November 5, Phuoc Dinh Border Guard Station fired fireworks to warn of an emergency storm, sending visual warning signals from the mainland to notify vehicles and boats operating at sea to proactively move to take shelter and anchor safely before storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi).
According to the Central Hydrometeorological Station, on the morning of November 5, storm Kalmaegi - the 13th storm of 2025 - entered the eastern sea area of the central East Sea.
At 4:00 a.m. the same day, the center of the storm was at about 11.4 degrees North latitude, 119.4 degrees East longitude, about 560km east of Song Tu Tay Island.
The strongest wind near the storm center is level 13 (134-149 km/h), gusting to level 16, moving in the West Northwest direction at a speed of 20-25km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24-72 hours, the storm will continue to move in the West Northwest direction, likely to strengthen to level 14, gust level 17, directly affecting the central East Sea area (including the northern sea area of Truong Sa).
From November 6-7, the sea area from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa (including Ly Son special zone) will have winds gradually increasing to level 8-11, near the storm center level 12-14, gusts of level 17; waves 6-8m high, the sea will be very rough.
Coastal areas from Thua Thien - Hue to Dak Lak are at risk of storm surge of 0.3-0.6m high, easily causing flooding and coastal erosion.
On land, from the evening of November 6, coastal areas from South Quang Tri to Dak Lak will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-9, near the storm's eye will have gusts of level 12-15.
From November 6 to 7, the area from Da Nang to Dak Lak will have very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 200-400mm/ods, some places over 600mm/ods. In Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong, there will be heavy rain of 150-300mm/ods, some places over 450mm.
Khanh Hoa Central Business Station warns:
The Truong Sa sea area has storm winds of level 13-14, gusts of level 17, waves 8-10m high.
The sea off the coast of Khanh Hoa will have strong winds of level 8-9, gusts of level 10-11, waves 7-9m high.
On the shore of Khanh Hoa, from the afternoon of November 6 to the end of November 7, strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, waves 3-5m high.
On land, there is a possibility of strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9; heavy rain in the North of the province with an amount of 100-200mm, some places over 250mm; in the South 50-100mm, some places over 150mm.
The meteorological agency warns of a high risk of thunderstorms, whirlwinds, and strong gusts of wind both before and during the storm's landfall; coastal localities, especially Khanh Hoa, need to urgently count and call on ships to take shelter.
