On the afternoon of December 6, information from the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province said that it had just issued a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency to promptly repair serious damage to the traffic infrastructure system on many national highways and provincial roads after a period of floods lasting from November 16 to November 22.
Accordingly, routes including National Highway 27C, Provincial Road 702, 706, DT.657 (Pham Van Dong), Nguyen Tat Thanh, DT.653C (Huong Lo 39), DT.656 (Provincial Road 9) and To hap - Son Binh route were all seriously damaged by landslides.
The scope of impact is wide in the communes and wards: Bac Nha Trang, Bac Cam Ranh, Dien Lam, Dong Khanh Son, Nam Khanh Vinh, Vinh Hai, Ninh Hai and Cong Hai.
The decision of the Provincial People's Committee stated that in the 2 days from November 16 to 17, the rainfall in the whole province was generally from 80 - 250mm; in particular, the areas of Vinh Hy, Ninh Hai, Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, Tay Nha Trang recorded rainfall from 300 - 400mm, some places up to nearly 490mm.
Cam Phuoc Dong station measured 487.5mm, Cam Ranh recorded 458.6mm.
On major rivers such as Cai Nha Trang River, water levels have exceeded alert level III. Of which, Dong Trang station reached 12.24m (1.24m higher than alert level III).
Similarly, Cai Phan Rang, Dinh Ninh Hoa and Lu Phuoc Ha rivers all experienced new floods, which are likely to surpass historical markers.
From November 18 to 22, 2025, the province will continue to have many moderate rains, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places with a total rainfall of 100 - 400mm per period, causing landslides in many sections of the route, seriously affecting traffic and people's safety.
In the face of the above natural disaster situation, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over reviewing the level of damage, assessing the current status, developing solutions to repair and issuing an Order to build emergency works according to regulations.
After the construction, the Department must report to the Provincial People's Committee to announce the end of the emergency situation.
The Department of Finance is assigned to advise on allocating funding sources to serve activities to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
The People's Committees of communes and wards with affected roads must coordinate with functional units to confirm the amount of damage, provide documents and information to serve the development of a remedial plan.
The announcement of an emergency situation aims to help authorities proactively mobilize resources, shorten procedures to promptly repair, ensure smooth, safe traffic, stabilize people's lives and production.
