On July 30, the Military Command (CHQS) of Khanh Hoa province organized two working groups to survey the field and verify information at locations suspected of having martyrs' remains in the area provided by witnesses.
Two working groups led by Colonel Truong Thanh Viet - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and Colonel Tran Tan Cuong - Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command as heads of the delegation, coordinated with Dien Khanh commune and Bac Nha Trang ward to conduct surveys at 4 locations.
The surveyed locations include Hoa Quang Pagoda area, Son Thuy Martyrs' Memorial Area (Vinh Phuoc), Mau Than Martyrs' Stele Area - Ru Ri Pass and Dien Khanh Prison area (old).
At each location, the working group compared the current terrain situation with information provided by witnesses, and at the same time reviewed the remaining traces and assessed the possibility of the existence of martyr burial sites during the resistance war.
Through surveys, the working group determined that the information provided by witnesses was initially grounded and consistent with some historical documents.
According to assessments, although the terrain in the areas has changed a lot due to urbanization and construction, there are still bases that need to be further verified and compared with archives, combat maps, historical documents, and at the same time collect more information from witnesses to zone and accurately determine the search scope.
The working delegation requested local Party committees and authorities to continue to pay attention to leadership, direction, and create favorable conditions for the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains.
At the same time, assigning functional agencies of the Provincial Military Command to continue reviewing and completing dossiers, supplementing information for each survey location, as a basis for proposing in-depth surveys and organizing gathering when conditions are met according to regulations.
The survey activity is part of the "500 days and nights" Campaign to search, repatriate and identify the remains of martyrs in Khanh Hoa province, contributing to the effective implementation of the "Gratitude" policy, expressing gratitude to heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
