On the afternoon of July 15, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police organized a conference to exchange and evaluate the situation of traffic vehicle fires and coordination in handling incidents on expressways passing through the province.
The conference was chaired by Colonel Le Quang Dong - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, with the participation of representatives of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), Khanh Hoa Department of Construction and units managing and operating expressways.
Statistics from functional agencies of Khanh Hoa province show that in the first 6 months of 2026, the whole province recorded 13 traffic vehicle fires, causing property damage of about 9.18 billion VND.
Specifically, on expressways passing through the area, there were 6 vehicle fires, causing damage of about 1.954 billion VND.
The Fire and Rescue Police Force (PCCC and CNCH) of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with relevant units to organize firefighting, protect the scene, investigate the cause and quickly restore traffic after the incident was handled.
According to the Fire and Rescue Police Department, to improve the effectiveness of response, the unit has conducted field surveys, developed internal coordination plans, and established an information exchange mechanism with the Traffic Police Department and units managing and operating the expressway.
However, firefighting and rescue work on the expressway is still facing many difficulties. The distance from intersections to the scene is often far, along the route there is still a shortage of water to serve firefighting, while the large traffic volume easily leads to local congestion when incidents occur.
In order to minimize the risk of vehicle fires and improve the capacity to handle incidents on expressways, Colonel Le Quang Dong requested units to urgently deploy many synchronous solutions.
In which, it is proposed that relevant units study arranging more rest stops combined with ensuring fire fighting water sources.
At the same time, install a surveillance camera system to detect early vehicles showing signs of engine overheating; research and equip mobile, compact fire fighting vehicles such as fire trucks along highways to handle incidents from the initial stage, limit damage and ensure traffic safety...
