In August 2025, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Tran Quoc Nam signed many decisions to merge mass organizations in Ninh Thuan into corresponding organizations in Khanh Hoa. Thereby, forming a unified provincial-level organization.
Specifically, the Ninh Thuan Union of Science and Technology Associations will be merged into the Khanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations; Khanh Hoa Retirement Club and Ninh Thuan Association of the Elderly will be merged into the Khanh Hoa Association of the Elderly; Ninh Thuan Cooperative Alliance will be merged into the Khanh Hoa Cooperative Alliance.
This time, the locality also merged the Ninh Thuan Traditional Medicine Association into the Khanh Hoa Traditional Medicine Association; the Ninh Thuan Lawyers Association into the Khanh Hoa Lawyers Association; the Ninh Thuan blind Association into the Khanh Hoa blind Association; the Ninh Thuan Journalists Association into the Khanh Hoa Journalists Association; the Ninh Thuan Red Cross Society into the Khanh Hoa Red Cross Society.
The above decisions aim to improve the organization, streamline the apparatus and ensure the unified operation of mass associations after the merger of provincial administrative units.
From July 1, 2025, Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces will merge into the new Khanh Hoa province with an area of 8,555.86km2; population of more than 2.24 million people.
After the arrangement, Khanh Hoa province has 65 commune-level administrative units (48 communes, 16 wards, 1 special zone), a reduction of 129 commune-level administrative units, reaching a rate of 66.49%.
