This is an activity within the event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the regrouping to the North (1954 - 2024).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan - Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee - requested the local government, together with departments and organizations, to develop a specific plan to preserve and promote the value of the relic, invest in developing this place to become a typical cultural work of Thoi Binh district, a red address contributing to educating history and patriotic traditions for today's and future generations.
Mr. Luan also suggested that the people of Tri Phai and Tri Luc communes (Thoi Binh district), especially those living along the Chac Bang Canal, promote the planting of star apple trees on their family land and establish star apple gardens to serve tourists. If there is a movement, if the area is large enough, if tourism is exploited, ... this place will certainly be an attractive and meaningful tourist destination.
70 years ago, when the Geneva Agreement was signed, the Vietnamese revolution entered a new phase, including the event of tens of thousands of cadres and soldiers from the Southern provinces gathering in Ca Mau to regroup to the North (Tri Phai commune, Thoi Binh district was the largest concentration).
Here, during the days of troop transfer, many emotional events took place, typically when seeing off the troops to the North, mother Le Thi Sanh (Tri Phai commune, Thoi Binh) gave comrade Nguyen Trung Kien, Captain of Artillery Company 370, Battalion 307, a star apple tree, asking him to send it to Uncle Ho.
Giving the star apple tree, Ms. Sanh sent a message: "The people would like to present Uncle Ho with a star apple tree as a promise to him: The people of the South, the people of Tri Phai commune, must always remain loyal to the revolutionary cause led by Uncle Ho and vow to overcome all difficulties to protect and build the country."
During his lifetime, Uncle Ho paid special attention to the milk fruit tree, showing his affection for the people and soldiers of the South.
Recognizing the value and historical significance of the gathering event as well as the image of the people presenting Uncle Ho with the Southern star apple tree, Ca Mau province has invested in upgrading and renovating the project (on the basis of the old project built in 2007) and decided to recognize the Uncle Ho Memorial Stele with the Southern star apple tree as a provincial-level relic.
On this occasion, Ca Mau province also launched the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. The province's goal is to complete the program by August 2025, and there will be no households in Ca Mau province facing housing difficulties.
