Putting aside personal concerns for project progress
At the large construction site of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, thousands of workers, engineers... are working hard day and night, rushing with progress, determined to complete the project earlier than planned. The North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project in the East, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, has a total investment of more than VND 20,400 billion, of which the construction value is nearly VND 14,500 billion with a length of 88km, passing through Quang Ngai province (60.3km) and Gia Lai (27.7km). This is the largest project of the 12 component projects.
The route has 3 tunnels across the mountain (including tunnel No. 1 610m long, tunnel No. 2 698m long and tunnel No. 3 up to 3,200m long), 77 bridges, 586 culverts and 81 underpasses for people, with Deo Ca Group as the lead contractor for the project.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Xuan - Deputy Director of the Communications Department of Deo Ca Group - shared: "Currently, on the entire route, we are simultaneously deploying 50 50% of the construction teams with more than 3,000 personnel and 1,100 equipment. Total output reached about 10,250 billion VND, equivalent to 77% of the total volume of the route. The road section alone has completed 98% of the crushed stone leveling, the asphalt paving stage is nearly 70km.
During the holidays, hundreds of workers are still on duty as usual. Each group of workers paving asphalt pavement, operating machinery, and transporting materials non-stop. No one complained, because according to them, contributing to the construction of a national key road is a source of pride.
Mr. Tran Van Chi - Commander of the XL01 package - said: "We have deployed two teams of asphalt paving construction with about 100 workers. Up to now, the workload has reached about 84%. During the 4 days off for National Day on September 2, the entire team still maintained normal work. In particular, the salary during this time has increased by 300% compared to normal days".
The tunnel through mountain No. 3 - the "heart" of the project is nearly 9 months ahead of schedule
Not far away, at the XL03 package, over 30km long - where there is a mountain tunnel No. 3, when completed, this will be the third largest mountain tunnel in the country - the atmosphere is no less vibrant. Each convoy of trucks, concrete mixer trucks... operates non-stop. A bit of heat from the mountain air was blown out of the tunnel, but could not stop the urgent labor of more than 500 workers and engineers taking turns working 24/24 hours.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Director of the XL03 package Management Board - said: "At tunnel No. 3 on the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, we mobilized about 500 construction workers 24/7 during the September 2nd Festival".
According to the contract, the entire project will be completed in August 2026. However, construction units are making every effort to basically complete the bridge and road before September 30, 2025. In particular, tunnel No. 3 - considered the "heart" of the project - will be completed by the end of 2025, 8 months ahead of schedule.
