On March 23, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a press conference to provide information about the first National Conference on Livestock and Veterinary Science and Technology. This is the first national-scale science and technology conference in the field of livestock and veterinary medicine, expected to take place from March 27-28 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi.
The conference is organized to comprehensively summarize the results of research and application of science and technology in the period 2021 - 2025, and at the same time set out industry development orientations for the period 2026 - 2030, associated with the requirements of innovation and digital transformation.
In the current context, the livestock and veterinary industries continue to play an important role in the agricultural structure, contributing about 26 - 28% of the total industry value. However, this sector is also facing many challenges such as epidemics, food safety requirements, environmental pressure and increasing competitive pressure. Therefore, the organization of the conference is expected to create more motivation for science and technology to go deeper into production and business practices.
The conference is also a step to concretize the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. Not only stopping at an academic exchange forum, this event aims to connect research with the market, promote technology transfer, investment and practical application.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long, Director of the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) affirmed that the conference is an important opportunity to report on the contributions of the livestock and veterinary industry over the past 80 years. "At the Conference, there will be a report on the results achieved in innovation of the livestock and veterinary industry in the renovation period. At the same time, it will provide scientific research results of Vietnamese scientists or international scientists researching in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity to clearly state the strategic technologies that will be applied to the livestock and veterinary industry in the coming time," Mr. Long said.
Through discussion sessions in 2 days, March 27 and 28, the conference will focus on proposing solutions on breeds, technology, disease management, food safety and digital transformation, thereby contributing to improving the competitiveness of the industry in the new period.

In parallel with the seminar activities, a science and technology exhibition area will take place with about 20 booths, introducing achievements, products and new solutions in the fields of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.
The conference will not only create a connecting space between scientists, businesses and management agencies, but also contribute to proposing to improve mechanisms, policies, orient key science and technology programs, promote innovation and digital transformation throughout the industry. From there, the livestock and veterinary sector will have more foundations to develop towards modernity, biosafety, sustainability and adaptation to climate change.
